This kind of bread is made without yeast, so it's not for eating (though I guess you could if you really wanted to), but for sculpting!

Dead dough makes for a fun little art project. The dough is made without yeast, so it doesn't rise and is therefore 'dead', then you divide the dough, add some food coloring, shape the dough as desired, leave it to dry out and harden, then finally glue the pieces together to make your own work of art.
Mine was originally going to be a sunflower. I made the flowers and the leaves just fine, but the stem gave me trouble. It had to be thick enough to support the weight of the leaves and flowers, but as a result it was too thick to dry out properly. Fortunately for me, we were given access to leftover dead dough projects that we could incorporate into our own projects if we wanted, so I chose whatever this thing in the picture is to be my base. Now I'm not sure what my dead dough is supposed to be, but it looks nice enough, I guess. Let's just call it "abstract art."
(Also, I think part of it broke like immediately after taking the picture, so good timing on my part)
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you learned something!
